BGC Winnipeg (Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg)

For over 45 years, BGC Winnipeg (formerly Boys & Girls Clubs of Winnipeg) has been creating opportunities for thousands of Winnipeg kids and teens. As one of Winnipeg’s largest child and youth serving agencies, our Clubs open their doors to young people ages 6-18 at 28 locations city-wide.

Our trained staff and volunteers provide after-school programs and services that help young people realize positive outcomes in self-expression, academics, healthy living, physical activity, job readiness, mental health, social development, leadership, and more.

The vision of BGC Winnipeg is for all children and youth to discover and achieve their dreams and grow up to be healthy, successful, and active participants in society. Opportunity changes everything.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Winnipeg

Many children and youth in Canada struggle with societal barriers and face adversities in their lives. Poverty, gendered violence, discrimination, intergenerational trauma are risk factors for mental health, school issues and identity challenges. Prolonged adverse childhood experiences and toxic levels of stress are barriers to the health and welfare of individuals, communities and society. But with the support of a mentor, adversities can be overcome, barriers challenged; youth can develop their potential, find their own unique ways to be who they want to be, and contribute to a better world.

Mentoring is a proven solution. Research shows that having just one additional supportive adult relationship is the single most important factor that can change the trajectory of a child's future. We are hardwired to need others. Unfortunately, children on the margins often don't have enough informal opportunities to find these necessary relationships. "Over 1 in 2 young adults reported that they could think of a time when they did not have a mentor but wished they had had one," according to Mentor Canada.

You can help us change that.

We are thrilled to be a part of One Great Lottery. We recognize that our collective impact is far greater than the sum of individual efforts. By fostering collaboration, mutual support, and a shared commitment to collective well-being, we unlock boundless possibilities for positive change in our communities.
